Buy gear

The purchase of your first kiteset is always an exciting moment because often it is a leap of faith. There are many things you need to consider, but the most important aspect is safety.

Make sure your equipment is in a good state and not worn. Check that you know how it all works and that your safety systems (e.g. the quick releases) work properly and are tested regularly.

Depending on the location and weather you need to be dressed properly. In the Netherlands you will generally wear a wetsuit or perhaps a shorty. In the winter you will need a proper full wetsuit and also gloves, booties a cap. A helmet and impact or lifevest is not a luxury in those conditions.
